Golden Spike Track Club
2013 New Information
*****Online Registration Now Available*****
This is the same information that I sent out on the postcard but with a little more detail in some cases.
You can now register and pay for the race online. A small Convenience fee will be added. I have set up a graduated system for those who register by certain dates to reward those who register early. We will still need you to physically sign the waiver form before you get your race number due to Brigham City and USATF requirements.
One mile race? That's right! New this year is a One Mile Race for 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders. The course will be on Main Street. I have been brain storming over this the last 2 or 3 years on how to bring in the younger age group. After talking to the City about having a race for a younger age group this is what we decided on. Some of you may ask why is there a age limit on the race. Well here is the story behind that. A few years ago there was an incident in which two parents on their riding next to there child (under 14 years of age) were almost in an accident with a car. They threatened to sue. We almost had the race shut down unless we put a lower age limit on it. So now we have the One Mile Race for those in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade.
Also new this year we will be offering a Women's cut shirt. This shirt will only be available for those who pre-register before August 17. There is not an extra fee for this but I will not order extra's and will not make trades on sizes. What you order is what you get. We will not have any available the day of the race so please sign up early.
The BEHS Boy's Cross Country Team will offer there fundraiser race on August 10th this year. Half of the course will be on the 10K course with a small variation. A great way to see where you are at with 1 month to go before Peach Days. The start and finish line is at John Adams Park on the south side by there new pavilion. Come support the team and find out where you at in your preparation the 10K race.
Same Old Stuff
I am not quite sure when the Club was started and if you know then you could clue me in on it. However this club is in charge of just two races, Peach Day's 10K and Turkey Trot. There use to be a third race a half marathon in April but with the invention of the Ogden Marathon and other bigger races we gave that one up. The other races listed above are listed because I am involved with them in some capacity or know the person who is in charge.
You will find listed below and update of races that are upcoming if I know about them and if I am asked to put it on this website. Just let me know get me the information and I will get it on the web page. Make sure I have plenty of time and if it during the cross country or track season then please let me know about one month in advance or more.
Thanks, Jeff Rawlins
